Starting My Journey

I have recently taken my first steps toward a career in programming by completing the Actualize Coding Bootcamp. At Actualize I learned several essential skills, with the most important one being how to think like a software engineer and developed the ability to learn new technologies and languages.

The Skill Set

- Ruby on Rails

- Javascript

- SQL

- Vue.js

- HTML

- CSS

- Git

- APIs

- PostgreSQL

- OOP

frontporch

At the end of the cohort I completed my capstone project, frontporch, where bluegrass musicians can connect for gigs and meetups. Users can create accounts and make posts to find groups to join, as well as posts for groups looking for specific musicians. It can be used for casual jam sessions and hangouts, or it can help working musicians needing a network of talent.

    The Next Step

Now that I have completed my training at Actualize, I am seeking new career opportunities while continuing my education.

Currently, I am volunteering as a front end developer for Chicago Artist Guide, a non-profit organization focusing on the Chicago theatre community. We are developing a web app that will work as a networking platform for artists, giving them the ability to further connect with each other wihtout the obstacles of money and/or resources. Additionally, I'm currently working with Actualize alumni creating applications with new languages. Together, we are practicing our pair programming and agile skills while developing our coding skills. Final projects coming soon!
